The lightest stake in the Tiger range. The 5/8″ (16mm) shaft at 18″ suits lighter anchor positions — pole marquee perimeter guys, tipi pegging, secondary anchors, and smaller inflatables — in firm to medium ground. It meets the EN 14960 minimum anchor dimensions, so inflatable hire operators can specify it where the larger Tigers are more stake than the position needs. In soft or loose ground, step up to a 1″ size for more holding power.
High alloy steel with Hogan’s patented heat-drawn point — the same manufacturing standard as the rest of the range, made to specification since 1948. How does the 18″ × 5/8″ compare to the 24″ × 1″ Tiger Stake?
The 18″ × 5/8″ is a 16mm shaft; the 24″ × 1″ steps up to the full 26mm Tiger shaft in a similar 610mm length. Where a position needs more than the EN 14960 minimum — a heavier inflatable anchor point, or firmer ground to drive through — the 24″ × 1″ gives more holding power without adding length. Step up on load or diameter, not because the ground has got harder.
Is the 18″ × 5/8″ enough for a stretch tent or clearspan anchor point?
No — the 18″ × 5/8″ is scoped to light anchor positions: pole marquee perimeter guys, tipi pegging, secondary anchors and smaller inflatables. Stretch tent and clearspan primary anchors carry more load than this size is built for; start at 30″ or 36″ for those positions, stepping up to 42″ or heavier where the load or ground demands it.
