Tiger Stakes 42 inch × 1 inch — deep marquee anchor on the 26mm shaft for soft and made ground
Tiger Stakes 42″ × 1″
A long 42″ stake on the 1″ (26mm) shaft. The depth of the 42″ for holding power in soft, loose or made ground, with the 26mm diameter where the heavier 1.125″ (29mm) shaft is more than the position needs — or where it has to fit existing 1″ fixings and spreader plates. Distinct from the 42″ × 1.125″, which gives the same length on the heavier 29mm shaft for the highest-load clearspan and sailcloth positions.
High alloy steel with Hogan’s patented heat-drawn point — the same manufacturing standard as the rest of the range, made to specification since 1948. It drives straight in hard ground where standard mild steel stakes bend. For the operational case for switching, see Why Professional Hire Companies Choose Hogan Stakes.
- Patented heat drawn point — stays straight in hard ground
- High alloy steel construction
- Mill finish — no coating to chip or corrode
- Consistent tip geometry, season after season

Common Questions
Are Hogan Tiger Stakes suitable for hard ground?
Yes. Tiger Stakes are specifically designed for hard, compacted, and rocky ground conditions common across the UK. The patented heat-drawn point and high alloy steel construction maintain tip geometry under hard driving, where standard mild steel stakes bend or deform. See our hard ground anchoring guide for more detail.
How do I know which stake size I need?
Stake size depends on your structure type, ground conditions and load. The 18″ × 5/8″ is the lightest, for inflatables and light pole-tent positions; the 24″–36″ on the 1″ shaft covers most pole and frame marquee work; the 42″, 48″ and 60″ are for clearspan, heavy loads, soft ground and specialist anchoring. See the stake selection guide or use the stake calculator.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Tiger Stakes are sold individually — there is no minimum order. You can order as few as you need for a specific job or to top up your fleet. Trade buyers placing regular orders can discuss volume pricing with us directly — get in touch and we can talk through what that looks like for your operation and order frequency.
What is the 42″ × 1″ Tiger Stake best for?
The 42″ × 1″ (1070mm × 26mm) combines deep embedment with the 26mm shaft. It is for soft, loose or made ground where depth drives holding power, and for positions built around 1″ fixings or spreader plates. Where the load is highest — clearspan base plates, high-tension sailcloth ridges — the 42″ × 1.125″ on the 29mm shaft is the stronger choice.
How is the 42″ × 1″ different from the 42″ × 1.125″?
Both are 1070mm long; the difference is shaft diameter. The 42″ × 1″ is the 26mm shaft, for soft or made ground where depth is what you need and the position is built around 1″ fixings. The heavier 42″ × 1.125″ is the 29mm shaft, for the highest-load clearspan base plates and high-tension sailcloth ridges. Match the diameter to the load and to your existing fixings. See the 42″ × 1.125″ Tiger Stake.

Pull testing tells you what the ground is providing before you commit the installation. The extraction tool brings them out clean at de-rig — and gives you a load reading at every position on the way out.

Pull Test Indicator
Measures actual ground holding force in kilograms. Digital display, wireless HOLD remote, CE marked. Confirms the anchorage arrangement is sufficient before the structure goes under load.

Heavy-Duty Stake Extraction Tool
Rack-and-pinion mechanism — axial force, no levering, no bending. Compatible with Tiger Stakes 1″ and 1.125″. Each extraction stroke gives you a load reading when used inline with the pull test indicator.
