Tiger Stakes 42 inch × 1.125 inch — high alloy marquee stake for sailcloth and stretch tent primaries
Tiger Stakes 42″ × 1.125″
The step up when a 36" falls short of the load the structure needs. Clearspan base plates, high-tension sailcloth ridge positions, stretch tent primary anchors. The extra length earns its keep in soft or variable ground, where holding comes from embedment; on consolidated summer clay or chalk, pilot-drill to reach full depth.
High alloy steel with Hogan's patented heat-drawn point — manufactured to the same specification since 1948. Drives more cleanly in hard ground, where standard mild steel stakes bend. For a full breakdown of the operational case for switching, see Why Professional Hire Companies Choose Hogan Stakes.
- Patented heat drawn point — stays straight in more ground conditions
- High alloy steel construction
- Mill finish — no coating to chip or corrode
- Consistent tip geometry, season after season
Manufactured by Hogan Tent Stakes (USA) — exclusively distributed in the UK by Milestone Events (Yorkshire) Ltd, Leeds. Minimum stake specifications for professional installations are set out in the MUTA Best Practice Guide. Hogan stakes are built to meet those specifications.

Common Questions
How is the 42" × 1.125" different from the 42" × 1"?
Both are 1070mm long; the difference is shaft diameter. The 42" × 1.125" is the 29mm shaft, giving more lateral resistance for the highest-load clearspan base plates and high-tension sailcloth ridges. The 42" × 1" is the lighter 26mm shaft, for soft or made ground where depth is what's needed and the position is built around 1" fixings. Match the diameter to the load and to your existing fixings. See the 42" × 1" Tiger Stake.
How does the 42" × 1.125" compare to the 36" × 1" and 48" × 1.125"?
The 36" × 1" is on the lighter 26mm shaft, for firm to medium ground at mid-weight loads; step up to the 42" × 1.125" when the load needs the 29mm shaft's extra lateral resistance. The 48" × 1.125" keeps the same 29mm diameter but adds 149mm of embedment, for primary positions on larger structures or softer ground where the 42" doesn't seat deep enough.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Tiger Stakes are sold individually — there is no minimum order. You can order as few as you need for a specific job or to top up your fleet. Trade buyers placing regular orders can discuss volume pricing with us directly — get in touch and we can talk through what that looks like for your operation and order frequency.
What structures is the 42″ Tiger Stake best suited for?
The 42″ (1070mm × 29mm) Tiger Stake is the most widely used size for large clearspan marquees, sailcloth tents, and multi-bay structures. The 29mm diameter provides greater lateral resistance for heavier loads, and the additional length gives more embedment — useful in soft or variable ground, and at high-load positions where a 36″ won't deliver the pull-out figure the structure needs.

Pull testing tells you what the ground is providing before you commit the installation. The extraction tool brings them out clean at de-rig — and gives you a load reading at every position on the way out.

Pull Test Indicator
Measures actual ground holding force in kilograms. Digital display, wireless HOLD remote, CE marked. Confirms the anchorage arrangement is sufficient before the structure goes under load.

Heavy-Duty Stake Extraction Tool
Rack-and-pinion mechanism — axial force, no levering, no bending. Compatible with Tiger Stakes 1" and 1.125". Each extraction stroke gives you a load reading when used inline with the pull test indicator.
